SPRING SUMMER 2017
Last week’s post on personal style generated some discussion about trend led style, and while I totally agree that trends aren’t always sustainable or affordable, I can’t help but love what’s hitting the stores this SS17 season! While the trends this season aren’t dissimilar to last year’s (meaning we can make use of our SS16 wardrobes again!), SS17 is marked by colour! I never expected to welcome bright hues into my closet, but it’s happened! For that reason, I wanted to round up my favourite SS17 trends into one handy post for those of you who are looking to make some new additions to your wardrobe. For future reference, you can find all the items I’m loving in one place from my shop page in the navigation bar, but for now, let’s dive into SS17! Happy shopping!

Ruffles aren’t going anywhere this season. They’re floaty and feminine, but they can also be extremely striking. Style them with bold patterns or understated denim for two totally different looks.
I can almost hear that Devil Wears Prada quote running around your head. However, SS17’s florals are on another level. They’re bold, bright and eye-catching. Wear alone or, if you’re feeling brave, mix them with more!
The other huge pattern hitting the stores is a variation on that all time favourite: stripes. In case you hadn’t caught on by now, SS17 is anything but understated. Think asymmetry, block colours and mixing size, shape and direction!
I’m sure you’ve noticed those vibrant shades of pink and red in the shop windows lining your high street. Barbie pink is particularly in this season, so go ahead and embrace your inner Elle Woods.
Soften your silhouette by layering tulle over your outfit of choice, or wear it alone for a more sensual look. Tulle dresses, skirts and T-shirts are all in this season.
Once again, pyjamas are coming out of the bedroom and onto the streets. Take the next step up from a classic contrast piping pyjama shirt and try a slinky robe or kimono instead.
I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that statement sleeves are everywhere this SS17! The bigger (and more impractical!) the better, so look for trumpet sleeves with ruffles galore!
Get ready to wear your underwear as outerwear, because layering bralettes, corsets and camis is in. Feeling a bit too vulnerable? Try a chunky waist corset belt instead!
